Chinese Pet Products Company Launching New Operations in Arkansas

 April 27, 2017

Another company has discovered the opportunities and resources available in the state and has announced business expansion into Arkansas. Pet Won Pet Products will be opening a new facility in Danville, Arkansas, to develop pet treats. The company has operated a factory in China for the past 17 years making pet treats from poultry. Pet Won Pet Products will invest $5 million in the building prior to additional construction and will create 70 new jobs for the people living in the surrounding area. The 28,887-square-foot facility will take over the former home of Petit Jean Poultry.  Construction is set to begin in June 2017.

Food processing companies around the world are starting to take notice of the unique resources that the state has to offer, such as strong raw material base, cost-competitive wages, and a favorable regulatory environment. Pet Won Pet Products’ parent company is headquartered in Taian City, Shandong Province, China. Sun Paper, a company that announced in April 2016 plans to build a $1 billion bio-products mill in Clark County, Arkansas, is also headquartered in the Shandong Province.  The announcement from Pet Won Pet Products and Sun Paper will bring attention and interest to Chinese companies who are considering expansions to North America.

Currently, foreign-owned companies operate more than 230 facilities throughout the state, and with recent investment announcements, it is clear that those numbers will continue to grow.

Arkansas Incentives

The project qualifies for two incentive packages: Advantage Arkansas, which provides an income tax credit based on the payroll of new jobs; and Tax Back, which provides sales tax refunds on building materials, taxable machinery and equipment associated with the project.
