Russellville, Arkansas Ranked Among Top 100 Micropolitans for 2025

 March 06, 2025

Russellville, Arkansas was recently ranked as one of the top micropolitan areas in the United States.

Site Selection magazine named Russellville to its annual “Top 100 Micropolitans” list for 2025. To qualify for the list, an area had to meet the definition of a Micropolitan Statistical Area – a population between 10,000 and 49,999 with “ adjacent counties that have a high degree of economic and social integration” according to Site Selection, and each community had to have a minimum of two qualifying economic development projects with at least $1 million of investment, 20 new jobs created, or 20,000-square-feet of new or expanded space.

“This recognition reaffirms what we’ve known all along—Russellville is a city on the rise,” said Dr. Megan Selman, CEO of the Russellville Chamber of Commerce. “Our community offers an outstanding blend of business-friendly policies, a strong workforce, and a high quality of life, all of which make Russellville a great place to invest, work, and live.”

In 2024, Russellville had two economic development project announcements. Americold announced that it would be expanding its Russellville facility in March 2024 with an investment of $90 million, creating 30 new jobs. Taber Extrusions also announced an expansion of its Russellville facility, investing more than $60 million and creating 70 new jobs.

“Arkansas’ economic momentum depends on strong communities, like Russellville, that support companies and encourage business growth,” said Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “Congratulations to the City of Russellville and its leadership on being named one of the top 100 micropolitan areas by Site Selection magazine. Russellville has had multiple recent economic development wins, and we look forward to the city’s continued success.”

Russellville also saw economic development successes in the previous year. In February 2023, Owens Corning announced that it would be building a new 150,000-square-ft. facility in Russellville and creating 50 new jobs. Owens Corning broke ground on the facility in December 2023.
